Although the 2012 version of Les Miserables is much the same as any other verion of Les Miserables, However the actors who acted in this movie made it very easy to have a more up to date version of Les Miserables. For example because the actors that act in this movie are so very popular, there fanbase wanted to see them in this movie and automatically became fans of Les Miserables based on the job their favorite actor has done. Therefore making it easy to connect themselves to the plotline of Les Miserables. Many of the songs and the storyline that is in the Les Miserables the film version is the characters way of asking God for guidance and grace.

Another great aspect of to how this movie has a connection to God and religion is the difference between Fantine's death and Jean Valjean's death and the connection to God. The main difference between the two is that Fantine death is long and hard and she suffers because of the actions she has done (ie prostution), whereas Valjean promised his soul to God and making sure that Cosette has a happy life therefore making it more accurate for his death to be more peacful than Fantines.

Finally, we are able to see how people connected to God during this timeframe. The French Revolution was a very harsh time for all those involved and those around them. It was a time of depression and regression. Everyone involved sent prayers to God to make sure things worked out for the better.
