In both the novel and film they are key charactericts that go towards the outcome and the religious value that are present. Both in the film and the novel. However, this does not mean that the film and the novel potray this religion value in the same way. It varies between the two. For example, Jean Valjean's  character in the novel does not persist against the bishop or any other religious figure of any kind. However in the movie they persue Valjean to have a renouned faith.

The characters in the film and novel are very similar. They are both very well rounded characters and in both places one is able to see how the characters are very important to the overall plot of les mis and how the way we potray and how the actors portay the character can make a very huge impact.

Critics view the novel as a dramatic read that tears on the heartstrings of anyone who reads it. The critics for the film say that  after atching this film you have really watched something.  Many people have said that if any film were to be seen during this time fram it is Les Miz.
